Migration of a B2B store for lighting solutions from xt:Commerce to Magento

Our client, a B2B online store for lighting solutions, wanted to migrate its online store from xt:Commerce to the more modern and commonly used Magento platform.

Currently the most popular system for managing online stores worldwide, Magento is actively developed and promoted by eBay.

Our developers added some special functionality for the client:

  • For dealers: Generation of PDF product catalogs with full technical information. Catalogs can be generated in multiple versions:
    • with store logo and store prices
    • without store logo and without store prices
    • with dealer information, as well as with store prices inclusive of dealer-adjusted markup (e.g., 10%)
  • Generation of product PDF forms for ordering by fax.
  • For lighting systems of varying lengths: For non-standard lamps lengths desired by customers, the system offers a convenient view of the number of standard-length lamps necessary to meet the customer's needs.
  • A special section on lighting offers information, advice and tips on light and illumination for businesses (a separate module with sections and subsections that is easily managed from the backend).
  • Special payment terms (payment after delivery) can be offered to selected users.
  • Ordering of products by email.

Standard Magento functionality is implemented as well:

  • Sign-up
  • Log-in
  • Shopping Cart/Mini-Shopping Cart
  • Checkout
  • Product comparisons
  • Wishlist
  • Sorting
  • Paging
  • Filtering by selectable attributes
  • Newsletter
  • Social integration: Twitter, Facebook, Google+, XING

Installation/configuration of the Mirasvit Search Sphinx Ultimate premium search module. Integration with the Yotpo external service for rating and commenting on products. Novalnet payment module with support for PayPal, Visa/Mastercard, Sofortüberweisung and Lastschrift SEPA
