Software for monitoring the stack radiation level at a nuclear power station

Special software for a nuclear power plant that monitors the concentration of radiation in the air that is discharged through the plant's exhaust stack.

During development, the software was integrated with the hardware monitoring system, which includes a gamma detector and chain for measuring gamma rays, with support for remote connections through an input-output block.

Special attention was paid to making the application reliable and fault-tolerant.

The software package includes:

  • Hardware interface module
  • Data analysis and verification module
  • GUI application for data rendering and system settings control
  • Reports application
  • System notification log

The project implemented a flexible role-based authentication system with multilingual support.

The software package was tested from all angles during development and during the final phase, and was later deployed at a European nuclear power station.

Technologies used: C#, .NET 3.5, WinForms, Windows Services, MS SQL Server 2008, WCF, Microsoft Report Viewer.

Project size: 1,225 hours.
